Terry Sand Retrospective was curated by interdisciplinary artist, curator, and founder of People Around Us, Leila Ghasempor, at Art Bias in June 2026.
The retrospective brought together Terry Sand’s multidisciplinary artistic practice, highlighting the connections between her sculptures, paintings, and performances through a curatorial approach developed around the Trio Philosophy. The exhibition offered an opportunity to experience Terry’s evolving artistic language across different mediums and to explore the dialogue between her visual and performance-based work.
As part of the exhibition documentation, Leila Ghasempor developed the exhibition concept and presentation and created a collection of materials to preserve and share the retrospective beyond the gallery space. Explore the Exhibition Archive below.

What is the story?
Madam Shinsplintski may be fictitious, but she has accompanied me for decades—influencing my art, imagination, and choreography. Physically, she is a combination of my middle school Spanish teacher and a rather mature, full-figured hostess at the Tea Room at Bullocks Westwood in the '60s.
